The children had a great time being part of the Jazz festival preparations today.
We had a very exciting circus workshop for 5th and 6th class. 2nd 3rd and 4th had a mask making workshop and all our younger students were treated to a percussion workshop with the headline act Stephanie Nilles. Many thanks to Joe and Caroline at Levis' for coordinating it and having us take part in the preparations. The senior room are currently participating in 'The Blue Star Programme', this is a primary school initiative which fosters better knowledge and understanding of the European Union. As part of this project Mr Séan Kelly MEP for the south of Ireland visited Scoil Bhríde today to talk to the pupils about his work and the European Community. Our local councillor Caroline Cronin also attended the event.
Tuesday 27th of February proved to be a very special day for 16 fifth and sixth class pupils as they received the Sacrament of Confirmation in St. Brigid’s Church, Ballydehob. The ceremony was performed by Bishop Fintan Galvin who was assisted by the priests of the parish. All of the children looked lovely on the day and were in good spirits and of fine voice. They were well prepared for the occasion by their teacher Mrs Una Bohane. Everybody enjoyed refreshments in the school hall after the ceremony for which we extend our thanks to the Parents Association. Congratulations to all the Confirmandi.
