THE  AMBER FLAG

Promoting Positive Mental Health

Amber Flag Presentation

Picture
Scoil Bhríde was awarded an Amber Flag for our efforts to promote positive mental health and well-being in our school.
It is well documented that positive mental health and well-being enables young people to lead fulfilling lives. Home and family are recognised as the primary source of nurturing and support for children. However, mental health and well-being are recognised as everyone’s concern. It involves the whole school community, parents/guardians and the many others involved in day to day life of the child. Positive mental health for children is part of their overall health and is inextricably linked with well-being.

Let’s remind ourselves what well-being means and feels like:
Well-being means feeling good and strong in our minds and bodies, having energy, getting along with and helping others, knowing our strengths and feeling proud because we are doing our best. It means we can cope with the little problems and disappointments of life. It means enjoying life, being grateful for what we have and accepting ourselves just as we are!

Positive mental health week may 2020

As we are an Amber Flag school we have decided this week to focus a lot of our attention on the importance of looking after your child’s mental health and wellness.
"During such challenging times, it is more important than ever to look after your well-being.”

Once again, the pupils and families of Scoil Bhride responded so well to another home-school initiative….The Promotion of Positive Mental Health Week. They engaged in many activities such as yoga, mindfulness, art, meditation, dance and lots more.
