2021-2022
Green schools initiative

Litter/ waste

For our Green Schools Flag we are working on the theme of litter and waste.  “The aim of the theme is to take an in depth look at both litter and waste and find ways to eliminate litter and reduce waste output.”
Last year we worked on the “Litter Less  Campaign” where we successfully reduced the amount of paper waste we were generating in school.  This year we will continue to work on identifying way to prevent/reduce/recycle/reuse the many types of waste (paper, plastic, tin, food, glass, clothes etc..) we produce. One way to reduce waste is to find a new use for an item.  We hope to re-use plastic bottle tops to create a school mural.
We would ask every family to gather any plastic tops (milk/water/juice bottles etc) of varying colours and sizes and send into school.
We will keep you informed of other events or initiatives under the Green Schools Flag via our school website or by email.
Thank you for your continued support.
Fifth Green Flag is hoisted in Scoil Bhríde. Huge credit is due to Mrs Mairéad O’Callaghan project co-ordinator who has worked extremely hard for the achievement of this prestigious award. Well done to all the students and staff!  The children were duly rewarded with an ice-cream cone for their dedication to the project. Thanks to Ivan and Christina Camier for sponsoring the ice creams for the children.
